Michael Nyman (main theme composer)
Michael Nyman is a worldly known composer with the soundtracks for "The Piano", "Le Mari de la Coiffuse" and others. To compose the theme song of "Nabbie's Love", Nyman visited Aguni island in Okinawa where the film shooting took place. He became well acquainted with Noborikawa, the best Okinawa folk musician, and the dream for the two to work together came true.
The Okinawa folk music performed throughout this movie are conducted by the best Okinawa folk and opera singers living in Okinawa. They not only play music, but also take part in the film as actors. Through "Nabbie's Love", you will meet with the genuine Okinawa folk songs, distinct from our native Japanese folk songs. On character roles, among the many individualistic Okinawa folk musicians, Rinshou Kadekaru who plays the patriarch of the head family, is recognized as a great anecdotal singer. His unfortunate passing just one month prior to the release of "Nabbie's Love"in October of last year, has made this as his last legendary film.
